Eri Mitsostergiou, Director of European Research for Savills (based in Athens), has been appointed as the Chair of the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI’s) Greece and Cyprus National Council. As a non-profit education and research institute supported by its members, ULI has been providing global leadership in the responsible use of land for more than 80 years.
Ms Mitsostergiou, who has been a ULI member since 2006, said: “ULI Greece & Cyprus has become known in the property community for providing members and non-members with programmes and events that educate, inspire and offer new insights. In these times of uncertainty and change my priority as chair will be to continue promoting ULI as an international platform for collaboration and promotion of best practices. I would like ULI to offer the opportunity for likeminded parties to come together, exchange knowledge and form partnerships with the vision to create successful and sustainable projects.”
Ms Mitsostergiou has 20 years of experience in the European Property Markets. Over recent years she has focused on the impact of technology and demographic change on the use of space. She is a qualified architect and has completed an MSc in European Property Development and Planning and the Investment Property Forum Diploma at the City Business School.
Ms Mitsostergiou officially began her two-year term on 1 December 2019 and will serve as Chair on a voluntary basis until 30 November 2021. She succeeds Tassos Kotzanastassis, founder and managing director of 8G Capital Partners, who had been chair of ULI Greece and Cyprus since 2016.
Since her inauguration, Eri has identified the following key priorities as chair of ULI Greece & Cyprus:
Commenting on the state of the domestic real estate market, she said: “Greece and Cyprus have experienced in recent years rising domestic and international investor interest. Exciting public and private initiatives are underway, which are going to impact the local economies and communities in multiple ways.”
“Tapping into the international ULI knowledge and experience will be a valuable contribution to the domestic markets and particularly to young leaders who are keen to continue learning and developing their skills and knowledge. When we come out of this crisis, future proofing our communities will be a top priority. ULI will be here to offer valuable support and leadership in creating long term value and shaping resilient cities and regions.”
The ULI Greece and Cyprus National Council is one of 14 in Europe and the inaugural ULI Greece and Cyprus Annual Conference took place in 2019.
Lisette van Doorn, CEO of ULI Europe, said: “The ULI Greece and Cyprus National Council has gone from strength-to-strength under Tassos Kotzanastassis’s leadership – a considerable achievement considering the economic climate – and we are delighted to welcome Eri Mitsostergiou as she is incredibly passionate about building communities. We see strong potential for ULI to grow further with the market now recovering and more international investment started to flow into the market and interest further increasing, bringing the real estate community together to learn from each other and ULI’s global best practices. We look forward to continuing the collaboration to further develop the programme that ULI offers in this region.”
The next ULI Greece & Cyprus Annual Conference takes place in Athens on 23 September 2020.
